We got our EU Trademark! 〰️

Launched in October 2024, Tween Talk® is a third space created specifically for 9–13-year-olds—a safe, welcoming environment where tweens can express themselves, meet new peers from different backgrounds, and build meaningful, face-to-face connections in a device-free setting.
Here, tweens are encouraged to develop independence, broaden their social circles, and continue the important conversations that may begin at home or in school but deserve more time and space to grow. Whether they're discussing friendships, identity, or the world around them, Tween Talk® gives them a place to be heard. Through regular gatherings, we also nurture intergenerational relationships, creating opportunities for learning, mentoring, and mutual understanding.
We have just moved into our first permanent space that finally belongs just to the tweens. There’s still a lot to do to make it exactly how we envision it, but for the first time, it’s a space they can shape, own, and make their own.

What’s so Cool About Tween Talk?

December Edition of Tween Talk

We are so proud of our Tween community, who came together to raise funds for their new space, a place we’re excited to decorate and turn into a warm, welcoming spot to hang out and belong.

The atmosphere was wonderful: Christmas lights twinkling, festive tunes playing, and the smell of winter tea, children’s punch, and cookies filling the air. Our tweens and wider community were incredibly generous in supporting the fundraising effort.

The tweens have been wonderfully clear about how they’d like the new space to look, and in 2026 we’ll be working to bring their ideas to life—including a cosy zone, a tuck shop, an activity corner, a shared reading nook, and more.

Our biggest challenge will be replacing the flooring and finding ways to decorate the plastic-clad walls. If you have tips, ideas, or skills to share, we’d love to hear from you.

Watch this space as we begin transforming our new home in 2026, starting with a paint party in January!

November Edition of
TWEEN TALK

November was a truly special month at Tween Talk as we hosted our very first session where tweens attended together with their parents. Normally our events are parent-free to give tweens space to be independent, but this session was an exciting exception and for a very good reason.

We welcomed two incredible lived-experience speakers from the UK, Jeremy Indika and Matt Smith from SmashLife UK. They led a powerful, engaging conversation on consent, safeguarding, and online safety. It was dynamic, open, and full of honest questions from both tweens and parents. The shared dialogue created an atmosphere of trust and curiosity that we were so grateful to witness.

To wrap up the session, we brought everyone together for some old-school party games in our brand-new Tween Talk space, a perfect way for parents to have a peek at where their children will be spending their time with us. We also took a moment to hear from the tweens about how they’d like their new space to look and feel. Their ideas never disappoint!

Of course, no Tween Talk session is complete without bubble tea, snacks, and lots of laughter. And the cherry on top?
We headed outside afterwards and got to play in the snow, a magical end to a memorable morning.

Here’s to more connection, conversation, and creativity in the months ahead!

October was a milestone month for Tween Talk as we finally gathered in our first permanent space, a place we can make our own, there is a great deal of work to be done but we have plenty of exciting plans for the future!

Building on last month’s theme of Respect, we began by talking about what it means to respect our space, keeping it tidy, taking care of it, and making it somewhere everyone feels welcome. Tweens shared how having “their own space” makes them feel and then we asked them to describe the new space in in their own words.

The focus then shifted to identity, exploring who we are, what we value, and how the groups we belong to shape us. In small teams, tweens became designers and project managers, brainstorming ideas to transform the new space. From wish lists and realistic planning to creating a shared vision, they collaborated to choose the top five ideas to bring to life. We were amazed to hear that screens and digital gaming were not really wanted at all, instead a chill-out area, book shelf, tuck shop and activity area.

After all the collaboration, we celebrated with cake, snacks, soda, bubble tea and music to mark this exciting new beginning.

October Edition of
TWEEN TALK

September Edition of TWEEN TALK

September marked the first meet-up for our 2025/26 Tween Talk cohort,
and the last one before we move into our permanent space.

In this session, we explored what respect really means, not just in how we treat others, but in how we listen.

Tweens began by sharing what comes to mind when they hear the word respect, leading to thoughtful conversations about listening, kindness, and what it feels like to be truly heard.

Through activities like listening pairsthe respect line, and acting we discussed how respect isn’t about agreeing on everything, it’s about showing others they matter.

We also shared ideas for what rules/codes of etiquette we want for our new Tween Talk space, to encourage kindness and connection.

We also made some lovely respect signs while enjoying donuts, crisps and bubble tea!

May Edition of TWEEN TALK

For our May session of Tween Talk, we embraced the outdoors and explored the theme of Change & Transition, in keeping with our monthly focus.

With summer just around the corner, there’s a lot coming up for our tweens, moving classes, changing schools, transitioning from primary to middle school, moving house, and for some, even relocating to a new country. All of this puts their resilience to the test in profound ways.

We talked about the challenges of saying goodbye to friends and the opportunities for forging new connections. Through creative activities, we made these ideas tangible:

  • We mapped out personal timelines to reflect on change.

  • We drew our shadows, using them as a reminder that everything in life is transient.

  • We discussed and drew images of how we change both physically and emotionally as we grow.

  • And to close, we painted keepsake boxes, a special place for memories and mementos they want to treasure.

As always, the session was filled with laughter, bubble tea, and plenty of snacks! We’re already looking forward to seeing everyone again at our next session in August, after the summer break!

APRIL EDITION of TWEEN TALK

COMMUNITY TRAIL OUT & ABOUT COURTESY OF POLAND’S PUZZLES!

What happens when you give a group of tweens a map, a set of clues—and take away their phones?

You get courage, collaboration, and lots of fun!

At our latest Tween Talk event in April, participants took to the streets of Wilanów for a hands-on Community Trail Challenge, designed in partnership with the brilliant Poland’s Secrets. With just a map, clue sheet, and the support of a student guide (no adults allowed!), our young explorers discovered hidden corners of their neighborhood and services they’d never noticed before.

But the trail was just the beginning...

Each group was also challenged to spread the word about Tween Talk by hanging flyers across the community. Armed with confidence and curiosity, they stepped into local cafés, shops, and public spaces to ask permission—sometimes getting a “yes,” other times a “no.” Every encounter offered a powerful lesson in communication and resilience.

💬 Some of their reflections:

  • “I didn’t even know there was a library there!”

  • “We had some disagreements but voted and moved on.”

  • “We thought it’d be weird being mixed boys and girls—but it was great!”

  • “Everyone was respectful, even in the graveyard and church.”

🎉 Highlights of the Day:

  • 🏆 Green Team: Our top scorers, winning points for navigation, outreach, and a fantastic final presentation.

  • 📵 Lookupp Challenge Champion: One participant earned an impressive 545 points for staying completely off screens and being 100% present throughout the day.

  • 🙏 Huge thanks to our older student mentors who guided groups so responsibly along the trail.

We wrapped it all up with well-earned pizza, ice cream, and proud smiles all around.

MARCH EDITION of TWEEN TALK

Watch what Atiksh had to say here!

In March, at The Informed Perspective, our theme was all about Community. To explore this topic, we invited Atiksh Bhan, the co-founder of Lookupp, an app that rewards users for socializing and putting down their smartphones, to join our tweens for a special session.

The event kicked off with our tweens designing their own community-based apps while enjoying cupcakes and bubble tea. After a fun and creative start, they got comfortable as Atiksh joined us live via video to share insights about his entrepreneurial journey. He talked about how he launched Lookupp, the inspiration behind the idea, and the challenges he faced along the way. One key takeaway from Atiksh’s talk was his reminder that failure is simply a part of the process—it’s not failure, just valuable feedback.

The tweens had the chance to ask lots of great questions and even presented their own app ideas to Atiksh, who offered helpful feedback and encouragement.

We wrapped up the session with an exciting competition powered by the Lookupp app. The tween who earns the most points for putting down their phone and engaging with the real world will be crowned the winner at the end of next month. We can't wait to hear their experiences using the app!

FEBRUARY EDITION of TWEEN TALK

Hosted @ Smith’s Cafe in Wilanow, Warsaw

In February, our focus was on the themes of Love, Friendship, and Appreciation with our tweens.

We discussed what makes a good friend, what toxicity looks like in relationships, and how to set and respect boundaries. We also delved into self-love, what we would like to be appreciated for how we can appreciate others.

In addition to the discussion, we got creative by making appreciation keychains and decorating cookies as gifts to show our appreciation for those we care about.

Looking ahead to March, we’re thrilled to explore the exciting world of young enterprise! We’ll be joined virtually by a special guest speaker from the US, who founded his own company as a young entrepreneur. He’s still in school, but is continuing to grow his business.

Stay tuned for more details!

JANUARY EDITION of TWEEN TALK

Hosted @ Smith’s Cafe in Wilanow, Warsaw

In January, by popular demand, we focused on the topic of STRESS with our tweens.

The discussion was full of energy, as we explored the everyday stressors they face, how often stress affects them, and the different ways they cope. Our tweens were open and insightful, sharing how stress impacts their sleep, mood, friendships, and family dynamics.

Alongside the discussion, we had a fun and therapeutic activity—making stress squeezers—which was a big hit with the group!

Looking ahead to February, we’re excited to dive into the topic of LOVE & APPRECIATION, and we can’t wait to hear what our tweens have to share!

MISSION MISSING PENGUIN!

🐧 Have You Seen Pengaroo? 🐧

On a recent episode of The Informed Perspective, we talked about Pengaroo — a small penguin with a baby in her pouch and a big journey behind her.

She belongs to Meganne Christian, a UK reserve astronaut, and has been her lucky mascot on missions. But Pengaroo has gone missing — last seen in Luxembourg in December.

Now Meganne is asking for help to find her.

At The Informed Perspective, we believe in the power of community — and sometimes, even a lost mascot can bring people together.

📢 If you’ve seen Pengaroo or think you can help, let’s bring her home — together. Please share & spread the word!
