Are You REALLY Listening? Workshop Event

Are You REALLY Listening? (AYRL) was created in response to the pace of modern life. As parents, facilitators, and community builders, we saw how increasingly difficult is to carve out time to really listen to one another, not only but also between generations. Most of us are not failing at connection, we are overwhelmed by competing demands. Screens, schedules, and constant information mean our attention is divided almost all the time. Undivided attention has become rare.

This workshop speaker event offers a structured pause. A chance to step back and reflect on how we communicate, how we listen, and whether we are being as intentional as we’d like to be.

AYRL is not a silver bullet, nor does it promise perfect communication. What it offers is a structured opportunity to pause, reflect, and reassess how we are communicating. Participants gain practical listening tools, engage in guided conversation within a neutral setting, and leave with clear, concrete actions they can implement regularly to strengthen connection.

It is not a guaranteed solution. It is a starting point — one that builds alignment, encourages intention, and provides a realistic framework for staying connected when life inevitably speeds up again.

What Makes Are You REALLY Listening? Different?

1. It Creates a Structured Pause

AYRL is designed as a deliberate interruption to busy lifestyles.

In a culture driven by speed, distraction and constant digital input, we offer a facilitated pause — an experience that encourages reflection, intentional listening, and considered conversation.

It is not reactive.
It is preventative.
It is proactive connection-building.

2. It Provides a Neutral Third Space

Most conversations between parents and teens happen:

  • At home (where patterns are established)

  • At school (where roles are fixed)

  • During moments of conflict

AYRL takes place in a neutral environment — a third space — where participants step outside existing dynamics. This shift alone changes tone, posture and openness.

The setting signals:
This is different.
This matters.

3. It Focuses on Being Heard — Not Being Correct

The event addresses a common but rarely named issue:

People feel unheard.

Young people often feel dismissed.
Parents often feel shut out.
Both may feel misunderstood.

AYRL does not attempt to “fix”.
It strengthens the skill of listening, creating conditions for mutual respect and clearer communication.

4. It Offers Practical Tools, Not Just Conversation

Participants leave with:

  • A clearer understanding of communication dynamics

  • Practical listening frameworks

  • Tools to connect better

  • Greater awareness of digital distraction and presence

The emphasis is on skills that transfer into everyday life.

5. It Is Adaptable to Different Audiences

The AYRL framework is modular and can be tailored to suit different communities.

Available editions include:

  • Teen & Parent Edition

  • Teen-Only Edition

  • Tween & Parent Edition

  • Parent-Only Edition

  • Schools Edition

  • Workplace Edition

  • Corporate Edition

  • Couples Edition

Each edition maintains the core principle of intentional listening while adapting tone, content, and exercises to the audience.

6. Strong Speaker Component

AYRL events incorporate a speaker segment tailored to the host organisation’s needs.

We work with a diverse portfolio of speakers, including individuals with lived experience and professional expertise in areas such as:

  • Empathy & emotional intelligence

  • AI & digital culture

  • Digital balance & online wellbeing

  • Racism & cultural identity

  • Neurodiversity

  • Gender & identity

  • Intergenerational communication

This allows events to align with specific community priorities while remaining grounded in the central theme of listening.

What the Event
Ultimately Addresses?

At its core, AYRL addresses something subtle but significant:

The gradual erosion of quality connection.

It provides:

  • A pause for thought

  • A structured opportunity for reflection

  • Shared quality time

  • A neutral environment

  • Practical communication skills

In an increasingly noisy world,
intentional listening
is not a luxury,
it is foundational.
